The Nissan Rogue 2018

The Nissan Rogue 2018

Nissan Rogue

As the Crossover market is so competitive lately, the Rogue needed to be reworked. Nissan plans to make it their bestseller in the US by giving it a more aggressive styling and more advanced onboard technology. On top of the more refined interior, some focus has been laid on the update of the safety specifications.

Nissan’s designer stated that they improved the Rogue in every aspect. Even a hybrid version is in the pipeline but the release date will differ from the base model.

The Rogue came to the market in 2008 and widened its popularity ever since. Every new version outsold its predecessor with the peak in 2015, with the ability to outsell the Jeep Cherokee, Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage. But there is still room to improve. We will see if the 2018 update will help to reach those goals in our review.

The Exterior

As the 2018 Nissan Rogue is basically still the same car as we know, it has been improved in almost every way. With the intensive revised front lip and an updated rear end it looks much better and fresher, although everything in between stayed the same, with its dominant V-shaped grille from 2017. The new styling focusses on a more aggressive styling and sharper lines to speak to new crowds.

The interior

For the interior of the 2018 Nissan Rogue we will find the same layout but with a general improvement in finishing and details. The biggest notable change might be the four-spoke, flat bottom steering wheel, that looks very modern. You can find some new buttons to control the info screen on it. The center will hold a similar 7 inch infotainment system as before with updated technology such as Nissan’s 360-degree camera system (Around View Monitor) as well as a Moving Object Detection, Radar based Blind Spot Prevention, Intelligent Cruise Control and Forward Emergency Braking with pedestrian Detection.

The center console gets a reworked shifter design and the seats come with taller side bolsters, french stitching and secondary accent colors. They are available in cloth and leather which also includes seat heaters and memory settings. Not to mention the heated steering wheel.

Engine and Specs

Under the hood we will find the unchanged 2.5 liter all aluminium I4 with 170 hp and 175 pound-feet of torque mated to a CVT-automatic that might disappoint some customers but we can look forward to a hybrid powertrain later on, which will improve the already respectable EPA ratings of 26 mpg city, 33 mpg highway and 29 mpg combined of the basic engine.
